Aftermath Engine is built and operated by an independent developer (a sole proprietor) trading as Dustfall Studios. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the service handles, how it is used, who else it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can delete it. If anything here is unclear, contact dustfallstudios@gmail.com.
This is written to be honest and specific rather than exhaustive legal boilerplate. It describes what the service actually does.
Aftermath Engine helps tabletop RPG game masters turn a recording or transcript of a game session into structured prep material for the next session. You upload a session recording or a transcript, the service produces a written brief, and you review and use that brief. You can also generate a separate player-facing recap to share with your table.
Account information. When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in readable form.
Content you upload. This is session audio, video, or transcript files that you choose to upload, and the text and material derived from them (transcripts, briefs, campaign notes, NPC and faction records, and player reports).
Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. We store only the subscription status and identifiers needed to manage your plan.
Basic usage records. We keep records such as when your account was created and when sessions were uploaded, which we use to operate the service and understand aggregate usage.
We do not sell your data. We do not show third-party advertising. We do not use your campaign content to train our own models.
Session recordings usually capture the voices of other people at your table, not just your own. You are responsible for making sure the people you play with know that sessions are being recorded and processed by this service, and are comfortable with it. Please do not upload recordings of people who have not agreed to be recorded. Treat your players' voices and words with the same care you would want for your own.
To do its job, the service sends your content to a small number of third-party providers. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function:
Transcription (OpenAI). If you upload audio or video, the audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper service to produce a text transcript. Once transcription is complete, the original uploaded audio or video file is deleted from our servers. We do not keep your audio.
Analysis and generation (Anthropic). The transcript text is sent to Anthropic's Claude to generate your GM brief, proposed campaign updates, and, if you request it, your player-facing report.
Payments (Stripe). Handles subscription billing.
Email (Resend). Sends transactional emails such as password resets.
These providers process your content under their own terms and privacy practices. We send them only what is necessary and do not authorize them to use your campaign content for unrelated purposes.
Audio and video files: deleted from our servers immediately after transcription completes. They are not retained, whether or not processing succeeded.
Transcripts: the text transcript of your session is stored in your account so the service can generate and re-generate your briefs and reports. It remains until you delete it (see below).
Briefs, proposed changes, campaign records (NPCs, factions, world state), and player reports: stored in your account so your campaign's history and continuity are preserved. These remain until you delete them.
Account and subscription information: kept while your account is active.
The transcript and derived material are kept on purpose: the value of the service depends on remembering your campaign's accumulated state across sessions. If you would prefer not to retain a transcript, you can delete that session at any time.
You are in control of your data and can remove it yourself:
When you delete content, it is removed from the active service. Routine technical backups, if any exist, age out over time on their normal cycle. Some records that we are required to keep for legitimate business or legal reasons (for example, basic billing records) may be retained as needed.
If you want help deleting something or want confirmation that data has been removed, contact dustfallstudios@gmail.com.
Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Access to administrative functions is restricted. Your content is held on managed cloud infrastructure. No online service can promise perfect security, but we limit what we collect, delete uploaded audio promptly, and avoid keeping anything we do not need.
Wherever you are, you can ask to access the personal information associated with your account, correct it, or delete it. The self-service deletion tools above cover most of this directly. For anything else, contact dustfallstudios@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
This service is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and you should not create an account for or upload content primarily concerning a child.
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify account holders.
